Could be the same block where the United jet crashed back in the 60s. Two planes collided over NY harbor; one crashed in Brooklyn, the other at Miller Field in SI.

‘Nearest available’ goes
Yeh; it seems like that was something they got away from for a while., Now more at it.
Relocations seemed to have gotten a little slower (tho' there seems to be a whole bunch of New Dispatchers of late...).
Sounds like they are getting more & more 'Back to Basics'.

103act. 132 was at Utica & Eastern when assigned to 2nd; bit of a Ride, but straight-shot across Eastern Pkwy. to Sterling & 7th Ave.

I only heard "32" so maybe they cut the 1 off

But after further review it was in fact they did cut the 1 off in 132
I thought the Same - Confusing, but 132 Truck makes more sense on the 10-75. Also; Units were first responding to Reported Park Pl Address.
I'm thinkin' Sqd.1 was probably on Park Pl Investigating when the 10-75 for Sterling came in.

I remember many times when we were relocated and additional units use to pass go to the fire and we were closer. Dispatcher were handicapped by old Alarm Assignment Card System.
I use to laugh when units would start passing by fire and letting dispatcher know they were ‘rite around the block!’ and still do. Chiefs would often use these companies that ‘reported in’ and notify the dispatcher. I
If this is a newer system of dispatching companies it makes sense!

Completely agree. Used to hear relocators close by but still told to remain in service. Seems like they are going back to the old ways.

Good Look at 132 'Eye of Storm' Stick in Right Spot for Members to Back Down as Fire Advanced into Roof (y)
That’s where good Chauffeur’s are valued. Coordination of Engine vs Ladder companies is often overlooked, who gets in first is not as important as who had the front of the building and where your water source is!
Sometimes only learned through experience and training, The Officer can only direct when necessary, he has to rely on the judgment of the guy behind the wheel.
excuse me if I was to ‘male’ oriented in my response, I realize thee are some females in Fire Service 🤭

John,
I believe you are correct. The plane crashed closer to 7th Ave (into the Pillar of Fire Church) on Sterling Place and extended around the corner onto 7th Ave.
