That's beautiful, BoroCall!  New Yorkers doing the Right Thing.  God Bless and have a wonderful 2018!

Also, I'd suggest that if anyone is unable to get to St. Martin's, you might consider sending a check to the church with a cover letter and a notation on the check that it's a donation for the fire victims at 2363 Prospect Ave.

Excellent suggestion!!  What a sad, sad, horrific way to end a year and start a new one.

Watching the news coverage of the Vigil and reading the media reports makes me melt :'( :'(

As i read the rundown of this tragic fire on here my heart sank deeper and deeper.. I would like to say that my thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic event, the lost, their families friends and loved ones who now mourn.

As Buffs there comes a point when following a fire that being a Buff stops and is replaced by the sadness and feeling of unity with the Brothers and Sisters who fought that fire and witnessed the trauma of such an event that will no doubt stay with them forever.

We stop being Buffs and put our hearts and prayers out to those that have lost their lives, homes and loved ones, for me this was one such Fire.  Sad times for all New Yorkers.

Love from Across the water.

The father of the Army soldier was interviewed on the news and his picture has been all over the news reports.

The story in the paper said he was staying with a friend?s family in the building. He got his friend?s wife and children out via the fire escape and he went back into another apartment to help get people out. He never made it out again. That smoke and CO will get you if you can?t find a window or a breath of fresh air somewhere.

very nice job by the soldier on leave.

for all the members who responded to this job..
your efforts were valiant
you overcame all the obstacles..the weather..frozen hydrants
as new york city firemen you overextended yourselves and lives were saved
you will never forget this fire and the pain of this job will remain with you forever
amen.

Don?t be embarrassed. When a tragedy like this happens I know I myself devour all the information I can about the incident. It?s overwhelming sometimes and you can forget bits of information that you?ve read or heard.

May the FDNY members that responded to this fire talk about it around the kitchen table and support each other. I don?t care how much time you have on the job, this one is especially difficult because when we arrive within three minutes we usually have tremendous success. Sometimes there are variables working double time against us.

Praying for the victims, their families and friends, and all Brothers and Sisters that worked this job. May God bless all of you. Happy New Year all!
