Back in the 60's many of those buildings' apartments, on 118 street, were occupied by airline personnel on layovers from Idelwild, aka Kennedy airport. They would use it for the layover and then when they left another crew came in and so on and so on.

Yes & the Bars along Metropolitan Ave around Lefferts Blvd , 118 St , etc especially the original Salty Dog were always filled with Stewardess's back then.

If I remember correctly I believe a Brother was part owner of the Salty Dog. I used to work next door to the Mohawk Restaurant on Jamaica and 120 St.. One day I went to lunch at Myrtle Ave. and Hillside Ave. and they were filming the pink Caddy scene in the movie Goodfellas with the murder of the guy who just bought it under the Long Island R.R. tracks. Too bad I didn't have a camera with me.

I used to deliver the morning papers in the late fifties and this area was part of my route. Collection day
at the end of the week was the greatest for a growing boy. The stewardesses slept crazy hours and would
sometimes answer the bell in various states of dress.
The Salty Dog might have had a part owner who was a member of the Bushwick Bomberos, Engine 218.
