This is the cause of the Brooklyn's truckless triangle, when they took Ladder 108 from the middle of the triangle and placed them in an area filled with double houses.

True we never should have left Seigel St.....at the time (1971) it seemed like there would be more work West of the new Qtrs but in actuality Bushwick was really taking off & we lost a lot in that direction as well as some Bed Stuy Boxes.

Wasn't that move by E216 and Ll08 due to the construction of the Lindsey Park Project?
No ...more so the age of the 2 FH's was the reason for the move......that project was going on 10 yrs before the move....also prior to the move both original Single FH's bracketed the 16 acre Lindsay Park Housing site....108 2 blocks from the Eastern edge & 216 2 blocks from the Northern edge......neither old FH was in the Lindsay Park Houses footprint .....the new FH was across the street from the Western edge......the demolished 16 acre Lindsay Park site as well as the later 1970 demo site for the new Woodhull Hosp. a few blocks away both had almost every type of construction in them...Wood Frames ....Brick bldgs...Old & New Law Tenements.....Factories....Synagogues .... & a Movie Theater.....there were many Fires during demo as workers recd premium pay if a bldg was Fire damaged....many of the Fires from both sites were chronicled in Alex Donchin's excellent pictorial book "FIRST DUE"..... FIRST DUE by Alex Donchin

Chief, I find it very interesting to learn of how fires in the 60's and 70's effected the makeup of neighborhoods. I was looking on the map at the Seigel St area and I see Seigel Court. Were those house on Seigel Court constructed after 108 moved to Union?

The origins of the truckless triangle reach back even earlier. Engine 285 and Ladder 133, planned for 1196 Metropolitan Ave, were delayed due to budgetary/construction issues in 1913. Engine 206, which was being disbanded from Pearl Street in downtown Brooklyn, took 285's new firehouse, bumping 285 to Queens. Ladder 133 never went in service in Brooklyn as planned. They also went to Queens but 85 years later.

kidfrmqns .....Seigel Court never existed back then.....it was built as sort of a Cul de Sac running from Seigel St to McKibbin St (just West of White St ) in the late '80s with new dwellings erected on it.
