I'm full of errors today. Sorry.

E-54 was told to go into the 2nd Alarm soon after they were told to remain in service.

Not saying this to be an a**h@!e just want the real story to get out there
I know your only joking but both 1st due bosses were Bronx Firemen. Con Ed informed us that the power was shut off to the bldg. and did not know why the conduit was still arcing. The conduit was 3-4" steel and was melting due to the high heat  and dropping burning embers into store rooms used by the residents, which was igniting the contents. The conduit wasn't contained to the electrical room but ran along the ceiling of the basement that was like a maze. Fortunately after controlling 4 doors to the storerooms that were fully involved the conduit seemed to go dormant and we were able to use water. Until that Conduit stopped arcing there was no way of knowing if we were going to make conditions worse or possibly get zapped by the amount of electricity flowing through it, so we were using dry chem and purple K extinguishers to try to control everything burning
On a side note: When the conduit is arcing and the colors are green, purple and neon pink I tend to think there is a large amount of electricity involved and I refuse to get one of my guys (or girls) ***got to be politically Correct*** killed or seriously hurt.

Thanks for the real story, and welcome to the board. I'm guessing that you hae been lurking for a while (not a problem at all), but don't apologize for being an a$$hole . . . that name could be applied to just about everyone here at one time or another . . . this from one of the biggest ones here.  8)  BTW:  you sound like a boss . . . are you?

Raybrag: The answer is yes I am and yes I tend to lurk and not post just like to see whats happening out there.
Manhattan:This was much more than a electrical room fire and just wanted to get the info out there. Some people tend to think that alot of the fires in Manhattan are bullsh*t fires but after working in 2 very busy areas of the city as a Fireman, I've gone to more crazier stuff on the upper east side than I ever went to in the South Bronx and South Jamaica.
Thanks for the Welcome guys

Yes, like you said, I was joking.  Sounds like a tough job ( not the usual 2nd alarm elect closet).  I have had a couple doozies myself as a capt in Manhattan and as a cov BC    Sounds like the brothers did great job.  We are always at the mercy of con Ed anyway.
