Actually 1733 is Jamaica Ave. & Pennsylvania Ave.. Marginal is on the east side of Pennsylvania and that's the start of Jamaica Ave. and Marginal runs parallel with the Interboro Pkwy and only a block long. It was said a lot of strange things went on in a house on that block. Being 2nd due never had a chance to check it out and never any good jobs there back then.

Was the area north of Jamaica Ave (Highland Park) hit hard by fires during the 70's and 80's? I lived not far away on the other side of the cemetery and don't remember many fires in this area.

No it wasn't that busy up there and even Cypress Hills. Occasionally a good occupied job, but not very often. We would be 2nd due there and run in with 175, but we never had that much work there. It was nothing like Brownsville or Bushwick. We never got to know the guys in 175 like we knew them in 120 & 123 when we were in the Tin House. When we moved north to the new house we started to run in more with 111 and 112. We never missed the project runs at 0200 hours that we had when we were south. Atlantic Ave. was the dividing line between Brownsville and Ocean Hill Brownsville, and it was like 2 different worlds. The few runs we had up in Highland was to the building at Highland and Miller, it was on the hill so 7 stories in the rear and 5 stories on Highland Blvd.. With our old rig they didn't have a fly lock, so we proceeded down Miller and the Fly extended about 2 feet. Miller Ave from Highland was almost a 90* hill.
