2/16/26 Manhattan 10-43 Code 4 Box 8780

Each year in the US, the majority of poisonous snake envenomation incidents occur in young, adult males.

Stupidity, poor judgement and the use of the phrase "Here, hold my beer!" are found in all socio-economic groups, but are found most commonly in the above demographic.

No way the Queens or Manhattan DA isn't going to attempt to charge them for this.
Attempted maybe:

Under New York Penal Law § 125.10, criminally negligent homicide is a Class E felony occurring when a person causes the death of another through actions constituting a gross deviation from how a reasonable person would act. It carries a penalty of up to 4 years in prison. It differs from manslaughter in that the offender is not consciously aware of the risk, yet fails to perceive it.

If the DA pursues charges they could more then likely be looking at Criminal Trespassing, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Tampering / Evidence Tampering, Larceny and Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Well by the grace of god this kid isn't dead so probably not gonna be 125.10

Because a lot of what they do is illegal to begin with. And consequences dont apply to them.
In this incident seeing how a person was down a 50ft shaft, writing summons for criminal trespass should be the last priority.

Now since they left their friend to die, throw the book at them.

There are some agencies nationwide where you are charged for the rescue if you did something illegal or negligent to end up in the scenario that you needed rescue.

I wish the FDNY could've done the same here. NOT that the FDNY wouldn't respond or perform to the highest traditions, they would. However a bill to the parents for something like this I could only imagine would have to be 6 figures.

I cannot fathom the punishment I would've received if my parents had to pay for a massive rescue response due to my own stupidity and illegal actions. Myself and my friends would not try that type of stupidity again....

I agree. I can think of a bunch of things to throw in. How likely is it? Probably not.
