Definitely a rare occurrence to have a fire in a cul-de-sac in Manhattan.
 
Looking at Google Maps now compared to 1940’s NYC pics this building was one of only few of buildings survived the war years down there. And that school wasn’t there either. Street ran through B to C.
Imagine it was part of the brick farms that were there for the longest time
 
The topic of this street was discussed heavily in a thread a few months ago. Can’t remember which one. Gonna try to find it
