Looking to start a thread where members can post pictures or even videos of how they have decorated their firehouses and apparatus. What else is your organization doing ( Santa visits, hospital visits, parades, and parties). Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

A seasonably cool evening welcomed Soho denizens assembled at the little wedge park they call their own, Father Fagan Park.
Sustained by hot chocolate and ginger cookies (thank you take-out joint Olives) and oatmeal cookies baked by neighbor Richard Blodgett, neighbors gathered in anticipation.

On cue, Santa arrived from the nearby 6th Ave. firehouse and with a ho-ho-ho, Santa descended from his Hook and Ladder 5 sleigh. Firefighters from the truck joined in the celebration. Santa oversaw the lighting of the tree and as is tradition, handed out candy canes to all the children.

The park is named for Father Fagan who helped rescue two other Fathers in a 1938 rectory fire on Thompson Street and who died from injuries he sustained.
The park also commemorates three firefighters of Ladder Company 5 and Engine Company 24 – Captain John J. Drennan and Firefighters James F. Young and Christopher J. Siedenburg – who responded to a fire at 62 Watts Street on the night of March 28, 1994 and died instantly or shortly thereafter as a result of being trapped by the flames.
Conceived by neighbor Al Di Raffaele with the collaboration of Parks, it is with such joy and respect that the neighborhood shares this now annual Christmas tree lighting tradition with the local firehouse.

Time Out file photoSanta Rescue

Time Out says

If Santa's sleigh gets stuck on a rooftop, don't worry: FDNY will be there to help.

The fire department will show off their skills on Sunday, December 4 when they bring a ladder truck to bravely rescue Santa from the roof of the New York City Fire Museum. The rescue happens at 12pm sharp, so be sure you're on time.

Santa paid a special visit to children at the Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan while riding an FDNY fire truck Wednesday night. Sonia Rincon has the story.

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Santa is normally used to riding a sleigh, but on Wednesday night, he made a special appearance at a Ronald McDonald House in New York City riding in a fire truck to the lift the spirits of children who could use a smile.

When Santa drops by a Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan this time each year, he now trades in his reindeer and sleigh for an FDNY truck with a very long ladder.

It's been this way since 2020 to keep children with delicate immune systems safe, but still get up close.

"Now this has become our new tradition, where Santa is taking a special ride up in the bucket truck and seeing all the kids in their rooms," said Caitlin Conklin of Ronald McDonald House.

"We call it the miracle on 73rd Street, because we didn't think we'd be able to do it," NYPD Officer PJ Conley said. "But we figured out a way to do it and have Santa interact with kids from outside."

Santa's visit at this temporary home in New York for kids all over the world getting medical treatment, has been coordinated by the NYPD and FDNY for more than 30 years. He's welcomed with lights and Christmas carols.

But this change for the children's safety in the last three years, has actually added some exciting. After all, what child doesn't love a fire truck?

I guess Battalion 15 was using a prior Battalion 38 spare?
