Brothers and Sisters, "The Bronx is still Burning" Taxpayers are some of the most difficult fires to fight. No two taxpayers truly the same. Often the safest thing to do is to "surround and drown" the fire. After :20 minutes of NOT making real progress on the fire, you Must remember the "Rs".
Reinforce-Reposition-AND consider Retreat-Removing members from dangerous areas to a safe Aggressive Exterior Attack Position and use master streams, from Tower Ladders, Deck Guns or Portable Manned OR Unmanned Large Caliber Stream Devices to control the fire. The SIDEWALK is ALWAYS IN THE COLLAPSE ZONE. Placing Large Caliber Streams from Tower Ladders OR Ladder Pipes into fire venting from the roof is NOT PRODUCTIVE. We want fire heat and smoke to vent out of the top of the building NOT drive it back into the building with elevated streams. The only time you should hit fire venting from the roof, from above, is when you need to protect a taller exposure/s endangered by venting fire & heat. OR perhaps after the fire is under control.
