Original address different than fire building address & on opposite side of street, if originally posted right here. Happens sometimes.
At times, when things were crazy back then, we would get a box in our first due response area & as we’re responding the dispatcher tells us it’s the same # box, only in Harlem or the Bronx. 1400 & 2600 boxes. Probably happened in reverse, too.

Many times back in the '70s Bushwick Boxes on Jefferson Ave were confused with Boxes on Jefferson St or vice versa which ran parallel but about 20 blocks apart...in 108 I remember responding from Siegel St to Jefferson St & on the way seeing a column of smoke & arriving at Jefferson St & the column would still be somewhat distant .....we would just keep going to Jefferson Ave which was not our normal Box but we were there.....sometime it happened in reverse & we got japped on Jefferson St.

I was on watch one afternoon and I turned the truck out to a 1300 number on Jefferson St. near Knickerbocker Ave.
The Engine would be fourth or fifth due. I realized that the numbers on Jefferson St. are not that high so I looked to the right
up towards Jefferson Ave. and see a column of smoke. We turned out and had a bad fire and were all alone for quite a while,
which was not a normal thing in Bushwick, with all the close companies in the area.
