Why R2 on the second alarm?

  • 10-76A notification signal transmitted when, in the judgment of the Incident Commander, conditions indicate a fire in a high-rise commercial building requires a total response of the following units:
    • 4 Engine companies
    • 4 Ladder companies
    • 4 Battalion Chiefs
    • 1 Deputy Chief
    • 1 Rescue company
    • 1 Squad company
    • 1 CFR-D Engine company
    • 1 FAST Unit
    • 1 - Communications Unit
    • 1 Field Communications Unit
    • 1 Mask Service Unit
    • 1 Safety Operating Battalion
    • 1 Rescue Operations Battalion
    • 1 Safety Officer
    • 1 High-Rise Support Unit
    • 1 Tactical Support Unit
    • 1 Recuperation and Care unit
    • 1 Public Information Officer
    • 1 Lobby/Systems Control Unit
  • 10-76 2nd ALARMA notification signal transmitted when, in the judgment of the Incident Commander, conditions indicate a fire in a high-rise commercial building requires, in addition to the units assigned on a 10-76, a total response of the following units:
    • 4 Engine companies
    • 2 Ladder companies
    • 3 Battalion Chiefs
    • 1 Deputy Chief
    • 1 Rescue company
    • 1 Satellite Unit

After Bn. 2 asked for the 10-76, Div. 1 told dispatch "instead of the 10-76, make it a 10-75 & give me a 2nd Alarm" perhaps the dispatcher didn't copy that transmission or proceeded with the 10-76 per protocol ?

I thought 10-76 was for a building that is fully commercial. Do mixed occupancy generally fall under 10-76 or 10-77? Looking at photos, seems like a mixed occupancy.

It’s “ALL BUILDINGS 75 feet or more in height”.

That’s how it’s worded in Comms 8.

might have to do whats on the floor below fire floor or floor above . they could ask for a 10-76 and s/c a vent support , a high rise nozzle , or they can transmit a 10-77 and S/c a lobby and a comms
