Time for a progress report.

Yesterday, Monday, April 8, "Atlas" woke up to a very pretty young lady singing and playing a guitar at his bedside.
I told him "you may not want to leave that place"

After seeing her picture that he sent me, "I know that I sure wouldn't want to leave there".
What a cutie ! ! !

Progress Report as of today, Saturday, April 13th, at the NYS Veterans Rehab Center in Oxford, N.Y.

"Atlas" reports:
Might be staying another week or two for rehab.
Thank you for all your prayers and wishes.
The food is great and everyday is totally different.
The staff is outstanding.

"Atlas" also says the only problem is cellphone doesn't work most of the time.

10-4. This report received at 1154 hours. KED 962 clear

On Monday morning (4/15), Atlas got out of the rehab unit and revisited Lourdes Hospital to see the Surgeon.
Atlas cleared the post operation inspection and was provided with a nice one hour back ride to the facility.
All four cuts are healing nicely.
There is concern about the lowest and longest of the incisions, so medication is being applied several times a day to prevent infection.

There are programs each day to keep you busy.
I've also been to a few concerts within this complex.

Now about the staff.
I can't complain about them.
I will give them 95 % because there is always one or two who look to take the easy way out.
So I am hoping to be out of here soon.

I am not in a Federal run Veterans facility but a State of NY operated facility known as Oxford Veterans Home.

Latest from Atlas.

Well I made it back to the old farmhouse after being away for over 4 weeks.

The operation took place on the 27 of March and I spent Easter Sunday in the hospital.
On Monday, 1 April, I was transferred to the NYS Veterans facility at Oxford, NY

I can't knock the facility at all.
The building was spotless.
You could eat off the floors.
Food - no complaints
Amount was perfect & there were always seconds or other selections.

Staff outstanding overall.
They ran 5 different programs per day.
Even one in the evening

So now I am on the road to recovery.
Still on restricted duty, but on the road to recovery.
So operations #1 & #2 are in the books.

Operation # 3 is currently on hold.
Time to charge up my battery.
Thanks all for your cards, well wishes, but most of all your prayers.

Ken

THANK YOU Chief.
I just could NOT turn that offer down.

I have a guy in mind who will proudly display this in his home.
If he's good, maybe Santa Clause will put it underneath his Christmas tree

I didn't mean to hi jack the thread about Ken....when I posted the E 51 link I thought i was the general "News Of Members" thread.
