E.214/ 165 A Long Way from Hancock & Lewis ('Nuthouse') for 2*Due Eng. S.I. Job

Probably last year's brush fire season. Every year there's two or three multiple-alarm brush fires on SI.
Not on unusual to see some far relocations on brush season but usually not seeing Manhattan trucks make it onto the island let alone first due to a job on the island.

Huge amount of respect to SI Dispatch today!

Very intense fire on arrival !! There must have been a very good fire stop between the two houses so that the house next door did not also go up. Day after photofromSIAdvance. 1617284286741.png

This wasn't the 1st time I saw HL101 relocated to L82. HL101 was acting L82 at one of those Gateway National Park/Great Kills Park brush fires a couple of years ago. I remember HL118 also relocated to the island back then.

Also note the EMS units visible in this video. NYU Langone bus which is likely from the Brooklyn campus. Would expect to see SIUH (Northwell), RUMC, and FDNY buses at the call.

Plus Bn 32, who’s in a Red Hook, Bet the a Dispatcher’s had there hands full filling in Houses. Lots of work around the city lately.
And some relocators caught some work from the relocations

watching the video it appears E161 got in 1st due stretched and operated the only line inside the fire bldg knocking down 3 floors of fire.
also appears 214 assisted with the stretch and then relieved 161 on the top floor.
nice to see a true aggressive interior engine job.
Where was Eng 161 located ?I heard the audio on the video from MAJESTRUM about 161 being relieved but could not find them when I was at the scene. I saw Eng 214 at the hydrant closest to the fire building with 2 1/34 lines and another Brooklyn Engine a block away with 1 2/12 inch line into the fire but did not see where Eng 161 was located

from what i am hearing E161 did a great job knocking down fire on all 3 floors.
the only handline in the bldg early on
assisted and relieved by E214
front of fire bldg left open for ladder companies
as far as where 161 rig was...call 161 and ask them
in my opinion this was an engine job..no one was going in front of 161 nozzleman
161 nozzleman remained at the nozzle throughout and received 1st and 2nd degree burns
this was a text book job of the 1st arriving assigned staten island engine co. and the 2nd due relocated engine co. from bklyn working in unison.
all the talk about this job is about the relocated companies yet no mention of who actually put this fire out and preventing fire from entering the exposure.
kudos to E161 and E214
