3/5/23 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 4794

Is there an official reason for that? Curious.
Your curiosity is as good as mines, maybe one of the other fellas on here knows why. It is my understanding that 5th alarm was always officially supposed to be the highest alarm

I believe there was a 6th in a row of stores in Queens. Not sure of year.

We have been here before back in 1970 there was a Fire and major Collapse, (7-7 4-4 658) 7-7 = Brooklyn Boro. Piliminary 4-4 = 4th Alarm Box 1658 at Chester and East New York Avenues, in Brownsville. At that time, there was not to be anything above a 4th alarm., but the Fire and major Collapse in vacant warehouse went to, I think 8 Engines above a 4th Alarm and "No" 5 or 6th Alarm was ever transmitted. See W.N.Y.F. 2nd or 3rd.

In theory a 5th Alarm is the highest you can transmitted any one NYC Borough. Above a 5th in any one Borough "What was once called is a Borough or Simultaneous calls was sounded. Bringing units from another NYC Borough to the fire." The 1st. World Trade Center attack in 1997, was 23 Alarms. For the record the 9/11/01 World Trade Center attack was Equal to 27 Alarms and included some Mutal Aid F.D. units from New Jersey.
I responded to both W.T.C. Attacks. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 Retired.

Looking at the special calls for further engines and ladders, since the fifth alarm was transmitted this is definitely a sixth alarm fire in the old system.

Good job in keeping up with the relocations and all the s/c assignments.

I am very confident this is Equal to, at least a 7th Alarm. Note under the old FDNY Boro Call/Simultaneous system anything above the 5th Alarm was "4 Engines plus 1 Ladder Co." on every alarm above the 5th. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired
How about the old Boro call?
