After the investigation is done the true story will come out.  Until that point we can only speculate which will not help

"THEMAJESTIRIUM1", I want to THANK YOU for providing us this video of the FDNY Bunting and News Conference for FDNY Firefighter William Tolley, Ladder Co 135. There are many of us who could not be there to HONOR this Firefighter for his services to the City of New York. And to be a part of the support for his family and firefighter family of the FDNY.

Therefore I have shared your video of this very sad event, to many other Brother and Sister Firefighters throughout Ct and RI, to honor Firefighter William Tolley.

On their behalf, I ask that the Tolley family and friends, along with the Brothers and Sisters of the FDNY, accept our sincere condolences on your tragic loss.

May he Rest in Peace and THANK YOU for serving the many citizens of the City of New York.

Although meant well, please let us not make speculations or assumptions regarding this tragic event here in a public forum. We all know that in time an official ruling will be issued as to the cause.

Cville, you're being generous by calling him a 'fellow' and you are correct in your thinking of other adjectives that would more clearly describe this piece of s..t!

Was traveling from Suffolk County to Manhattan on Thursday afternoon and funeral cort?ge passed on LIE at Exit 53 (Sagtikos Pkwy) around 3:30pm - the cort?ge probably got on at Exit 44 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expwy) - every bridge over the LIE had fire engines and truck companies displaying flags in tribute to Fireman Tolley RIP - quite a moving moment emotionally as E286/TL 135 passed followed by the fire hearse in the HOV lane. Must have been a very lengthy service at St Martin of Tours RC church since the funeral was scheduled to start at 11am.

Purely heartbreaking to see the pictures of FF Tolley's wife and that beautiful precious little 8 yr old daughter wearing his hat and clutching his helmet.
