Laconia Ave SI

Laconia Ave BX

Livonia Ave BKLYN

Lithonia Ave QNS

All ripe for confusion.
Chief, do you recall how many times Hillside Avenue came over for a job and it was in Douglaston or Rockaway or way upper Manhattan? Of course, Laconia has it beat. lol

A Brooklyn dispatcher once told me they were extra careful eliciting information from callers about these locations after being burned once: Melrose Street, Meserole Street, and Meserole Avenue.

We used to get that often during those very busy years, 1400 & 2600 # boxes were ours & companies in Harlem & the Bronx & would get mixed up somehow. It went both ways back then.

Jefferson Ave & Jefferson St in BKLYN was often problematic.... when we (108) were on Siegel St we were 1st Due to Jefferson St but on the 2nd or 3rd Alarm on Jefferson Ave (depending what the other cross St was ) they were several blocks apart & more than once I remember responding to Jefferson St & we would find nothing there but see a smoke cloud in the distance & the whole assignment from the STREET would head to the AVENUE & usually another assignment was also on the way there winding up with a lot of Units.......as an example as to how confusing this could be here is a google search for Bushwick Ave & Jefferson STREET that when punched in actually specifies Jefferson AVENUE..... https://www.google.com/search?q=BUS...2j33i299l2.15464j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

henny dingman (rip) a fire dispatcher...and a great guy loved by all
would on occassions while filling out the box assignments for jefferson st.....would send an engine to jefferson ave (or visa/versa)
just to make sure the caller was right

Staten Island also has Richmond Rd., Richmond Terrace and Richmond Ave.
To add on, Richmond Hill Road, Port Richmond Avenue.

Each of the boroughs seem to have street names that has the boro name in it: Manhattan (Manhattan Avenue), Brooklyn: (Brooklyn Avenue), SI: (Richmond Avenue and more), Queens: (Queens Blvd) and Bronx: (Bronx River pkwy)

Sharrotts Road
Sharrotts Ave
Sharrotts Lane
All Staten Island within couple of miles of one another

Ok some more Bronx, Kingsbridge Rd., Kingsbridge Terrace, Kingsbridge Ave., all very close to each other in that area of Bronx.
