79 has they’re own boxes back so they’re location don’t matter anymore
Not quite sure what that means. 79 will go to Fordham Rd at the Concourse from 62's quarters? What due would they be? A lot of companies closer to that intersection.
Same new situation for L37 from Bailey Avenue?

Might make a bit of a difference - from Briggs, 79 is 1st due at Jerome/Kingsbridge - from where 79 is for now (62/32) - there are at least 7 Bx. Engines closer, even 95 from Inwood is closer.

Wow. e69 from 143 in Harlem 5th due. Back then most of university heights, Bedford park, and Kingsbridge were a smattering of PD’s and farmland. The apartment buildings came in the 20’s and 30’s. And E69 didn’t have a 450 HP diesel to get up there. No 207 st or 225 st bridges. Must have taken E69 45 minutes to get up into 79 area. And no radios. Once they left quarters next contact was most likely when the arrived at the box to find the fire out or a pile of smoldering rubble. Great revisit of history. Nice post. Thanks for sharing.

That picture is enlarged and framed in the kitchen of Dallas Texas Engine Company 17 in the White Rock Lake district in the northwest part of the city. A former girlfriend of mine lived up the street and I stopped in one day to buff. They had no idea what the picture was about. I got an invite to lunch when explained that it was Engine 69 from Woodlawn in the northwest section of the Bronx and gave them some local Bronx history. Great guys, great meal.

Since we're talking mileage here, for nearly 100 years the assignment to Brady and Wallace was

90 61 (97) 88
41 38

64/47 45/(58) 62/32 up next.

BARB decided that the intersection of Fordham road and the Bronx River parkway was a choke point for 88/38 and changed the response despite the mileage calculation. 88/38 Lost a lot of boxes in what had been their traditional area. Things do change.
