A Mayday at this fire, so that is why an additional Squad & Rescue were "Special Called' Rescue 4 from Queens & Squad 61. Does anyone know why NO E.M.S. M.E.R.V. was available in NYC? Seems like an abnormal amount of greater/multiple alarms = above 2nd alarms are being transmitted, The good thing is unlike some other big cities FDNY is not afraid to ask for help before, the fire becomes a catch-up situation. Firefighters' safety is improved by being "Proactive" about calling for help before it is too late and playing catch up.

Bob, I cant agree with you more, Nashville is terrible at that, coming from NYC EMS, I still ask for additional resources based on the CAD info and most times a chief will say ' negative advise when on scene',..

The Rescue and squad were not called because of the mayday if it was for that they would have transmitted the 10-66. It was for relief as SQ41 and R3 worked tirelessly in the fire apartment. As it’s been talked about staff is thinking of adding Rescue and Squad or one or the other for relief purposes on 5th Alarm DWH.
