CI had 4 engines, 2 trucks and a BC. CI had a history of huge year round crowds, large hotels, amusement parks, bath houses and frequent multiple alarms. It also had one of the city's high pressure water systems which an engine could hook up to and operate a line from. This system, with its "stubby" fire hydrants, would be manually turned on for working fires by request of the Bklyn dispatcher and was operational into the 1970s.
