It is not common for a Brownstone building fires to extend to Exposures 2 or 4 = Exposures B&D, unless there is defect in the brick work between the buildings or it extends via the cornices. These buildings are getting old by now, many over 100 years old and therefore anything is possible as deterioration attacks all old buildings unless major upgrading and renovation is done correctly. Any building is expected to last as long as a human life commonly is 70 to 85 years, after that, suspect the building has structural problems. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired

Good Point -In Fact: Exp.4; 278 Gates, looks more Likely a Hot-Spot. Vacant, Roof looks
pretty shaky, boarded-up. Walls inside are probably tore-up, explains quick Extension.
