The photographer Todd Maisel got up close on the roof , perhaps too close! He lives nearby. Often gets right into the action, to the point of getting soaked by the hoseline.

Just saying if I was on that roof that photographer would not be there. Enough to worry about without a photographer looking for a prize photo. I did here they were worried about a possible collapse and nobody did anything about this guy.
Not in my time.

If you watch the video by THEMAJESTIRIUM1, there was one photographer early on, then two more showed up at 20 min.
Very surprised that they were allowed to be on the roof that close to a heavy fire/smoke condition, especially with the BC (roof sector) seeing them. Does anyone know if they were pre-authorized by the FDNY?

By the way, another super video with the fireground audio. Kudos to THEMAJESTIRIUM1.

Great video THEMAJESTIRIUM! Excellent footage of roof operations. The photographers on the roof of the fire building leave me confused and speechless. I cannot believe a Chief Officer would permit this in any department for any reason. Too much risk for the Chief to assume if something were to happened to one of these "journalist". I just see them as a liability and getting in the way.
