The aerial in the L.85 photo looks like a Pirsch.  Not much ladder when you got to the top when fully extended.

XPFD - You are right about the Pirsch.

Ladder 85 went into service April 16, 1960 with a 1938 FWD 85 ft tiller.  It had a 1948 Ward LaFrance tractor. It came from Ladder 106.

In 1962, Ladder 85's 1938 FWD was sent to Ladder 82.

Ladder 85 received a well used Pirsch 85 ft tiller that was used by Ladder 3.

I believe Ladder 85 was the first Mack CF Tower Ladder to go from all red to a white over red color scheme. I think it was also the first to go from the silver colored boom to a white boom.

  I sent the seller a message because that 1958 Mack spare outside the Shops is a actually a 1962-63 with dual headlights and rear suction intake. The 1965 Mack C's were all diesel with front suction intake and a vertical exhaust stack on the officers side of the cab.

There are some good shots of 1959 Mack C/Maxim reg.#418 that was originally L11 then wrecked in 1971 while serving as a spare at L48.

The photos sold right away but only for $36.00 i was thinking they would go for well over  $50.00 ....well worth it..rigs  you will never see again....... .you can still view some by clicking on "see former listing" or on the photo itself...eventually they will be removed from the e bay site though.
