REST IN PEACE BROTHER....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES..... "Raymond R. Phillips, Jr., Ret. Rescue 3, was sworn into the FDNY on November 5, 1977. After graduating from probie school in December 1977, he was assigned to Engine 42. Later he was transferred across the floor to Ladder 56 in 1979 and then to Ladder 29 in September 1980. From there, Ray went to Rescue 3 in June 1990 and was assigned to Special Operations Command in February 1999. He was assigned to TAC on June 1, 2001. Ray retired from the FDNY after 26 years of service on January 16, 2003.

Ray was a union Delegate and continues to be active in the Emerald Society and is the Vice President of the Holy Name Society. On May 20, 2001, Ray was hon- ored as the Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island Holy Name Society Man of the Year. Ray played for the Bravest Football Team from 1980-1987. In 1985, Ray became the offi- cial Santa Claus for the UFA and continues this role annually at the Widow?s & Children?s Christmas Party. Ray married his wife Maureen on June 15, 1984 and has three children, Raymond, Brian, and Courtney."

AMERICA's WORST DAY continues to claim the lives of members of the FDNY. The families and friends, as well as Brother/Sister members of the department, continue to share in the grief of that very sad day, when America was suddenly attacked.

My condolences to all on your losses and May They Rest In Peace.

Eddie fought the good fight...so sad because he was a mans man.  Great fire officer....aggressive as anyone.  Gym rat, marathon runner.  Former member L23 and L45.  Worked at Tactical at the Rock for a few years, then I believe , to marine Unit.  I am glad that I worked with him.
His brother, Jeremiah was Captain of E47 mid 2000?s

Statement: UFA President Gerard Fitzgerald on the Passing of Retired Firefighter Ronald Svec

NEW YORK CITY ? Today, UFA President Gerard Fitzgerald made the following comments on the death of retired FF Ronald Svec from 9-11-related cancers:

?Tomorrow we will lay to rest one of New York City?s bravest, retired firefighter Ronald Svec. Last Friday we lost Ronnie after a nine-year battle with cancer caused by his service at the World Trade Center site following the 9-11 attacks. Ronnie, who was retired from Ladder 82 in Staten Island, was one of the best firemen to serve Great Kills. He was the perfect senior firefighter as he was always eager to show the new guys how to operate the tools safely. He was only 63 years old.
