In these 13 pages each and every individual was taken away much too soon. They were there working hour after hour, month after month, trying to recover the remains of human beings that all were taken away from their friends and family members. This should have never happened and as that video says, "we all remember where we were and what we were doing as we learned of this ATTACK on AMERICA". In my memory, the WORST DAY OUR COUNTRY EVER SAW.

On that TERRIBLE DAY our country lost GREAT PEOPLE. And as we see today we are still loosing GREAT PEOPLE. They have suffered and their family and friends have suffered for something they did nothing wrong.

Department Order 56 announced the death of retired BC Al Gray, B8 residing in LaJolla, CA. Al Gray was the Captain of Engine 82 early 70's, was Captain Albergray in Dennis Smith's book "Report From Engine 82." He was promoted to BC out of 82 on 9/1/73 and assigned to the 8th Battalion. Saw heavy fire duty for many years, suffered a heart attack early 1975 and retired 7/75. It is great to know that he enjoyed 42 years retirement. May he Rest in Peace.

As I sit here and read the notices about 9-11 Members and War Years Veterans who pass on, I am saddened by the fact that those who contributed so much to the great legacy of the F.D.N.Y. are not longer with us. Whether from their work during "The War Years" or from their response to The Trade Center, they have contributed so much and we all owe them our gratitude.
They continue to be a part of us though the stories shared on these pages. Thank you all for remembering them and sharing their stories with us.
May they all Rest in Peace. May their families at home and on the job continue to have our thoughts and prayers.
