Jung, Richard

Richard Jung died Monday, May 4, 2015, after a 21-month battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Marise Jung, who was at his side at his death. He also leaves behind his devoted daughters, Jillian and Joanna. Richard was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Norbert and Esther Jung. His father immigrated to the United States from Hamburg, Germany as a young child. Richard and Marise both grew up in Brooklyn, and made their first home there in 1983, moving to Brookfield, Connecticut in 1992, and then Southbury, Connecticut in 1994. Only one semester shy of receiving a BS from The College of Staten Island, (now known as Wagner College), Richard became a member of the New York City Fire Department, in Engine 257. He served from 1979 to 1991, when injuries sustained in a house fire made it necessary for him to retire. During that period of time, he was decorated six times, including once for, "Meritorious acts and selfless courage for saving the lives of two New York City Police Officers while in civilian clothing," in March of 1991. Shortly after relocating to Connecticut, Richard and his wife began a career building custom homes throughout the area. He put his heart into every home that was built and made many deep and lasting friendships along the way with both clients and subcontractors. While Richard absolutely loved the Fire Department, (still dreaming of it to the end of his life), and the lasting mark he was able to leave on the landscape of Connecticut, anyone who knew him knows he defined himself as a golfer. He began his training, with his dad, at the age of 7, and later refined his game under the tutelage of professional golfer, Jim Albus. He went on to win many major amateur tournaments, including becoming the first player to win the New York City high school championship three times, along with the PGA's NY Metropolitan Junior Championship in 1974. As an adult player, he was a three-time National Fire Dept. golf champion, and either placed or won many CSGA and MGA events after a seven-year hiatus due to his injuries. He holds the course record at The Heritage Golf Club in Southbury. There were many times he was unable to bend over to pick up his ball, due to the pain in his back, but his love of the game allowed him to play until 2008. A memorial mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Woodbury, CT. A celebration of Richard's life will take place at the family home that same day between the hours of 1:00-3:00 PM, and 5:00-7:00 PM. Anyone who would like to come and share a story or raise a glass in his honor is welcome. A scholarship fund has been established in Richard's honor. WILTON NY-Raymond P. Fogarty, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ray was the son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Hillan) Fogarty. Ray has resided in Wilton, NY for the past two years moving from Henderson, Nevada. He served in the US Air force for four years. Ray retired as a Chief?s Aide for the 50 Battalion in NYC, having served faithfully for 31 years. He was a two time past president of the Retiree?s NYC Firefighter?s Association in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ray was the BIGGEST NY Mets fan EVER. While residing in Nevada, he enjoyed the casinos, restaurants and the beautiful weather. Ray was also an avid reader, trivia buff and loved cooking. Ray adored traveling with his wife Betsy. They traveled extensively through Europe, the Caribbean, Greece, Russia, New Zealand and to Ireland five times.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Elizabeth ?Betsy? (McLaughlin) Fogarty. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 15, 2015. He is also survived by his loving children Patrick, Daniel, Kathleen, Mary and Dennis; his cherished grandchildren Danielle, Colleen, James, Gerard, Brayden, Payton and Keegan. Ray also leaves behind his brother Edward (Kathleen), his sister Kathleen (Martin), brother-in-law James McLaughlin (Susan), sister-in-law Nancy and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his brother John Fogarty.
Ray?s family would like to thank the staff, nurses and nurse?s assistants at the Stanton. A special thank you to Dr. Joseph Mihindu for Ray?s exceptional care.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Mary?s Church, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY.
Interment will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery, S. Glens Falls, NY.

Edward Charles Schoales, 76, of Stony Point, NY passed away on Wednesday, July 15th, 2015. He was born on March 14th, 1939 in Bronx, NY to Catherine V. (nee McDonald) and Edwin C. Schoales. Ed was a member of the US Army and NYPD prior to finding his passion in the FDNY. He retired as a Battalion Chief after 40 years of service. Ed will be remembered for his dedication to his family and humble nature. He loved family vacations at Cape May and time spent with his friends of the North Rockland Social Club. He is survived by his children Catherine Kasamis (Jim), Jennifer Gamboli (Mike), Edward (Lorella), Michael (Lisa), and Daniel (Carol). He is the cherished Poppy of Kyle, Christian, Christopher, Luke, Riley, Zoe, Thomas, Brianna, Kailyn, Michael, Grace, Ella and Daniel. Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret (nee Hoban), youngest son Thomas, who perished as a Firefighter on 9/11 and granddaughter Brittany Kasamis.Family and friends will gather Saturday 7-9pm and Sunday 2- 4 and 7-9pm at the Higgins Funeral Home, 73 North Liberty Dr., Stony Point, NY. RET FDNY FF HARRY ANKER JOBERG  PASSED AWAY peacefully on July 19, 2015 in Greensboro, NC. He was 102 years old. Harry was born May 9, 1913 in Brooklyn, NY to Hans and Pauline Joberg. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and went to work as a messenger for Chase Manhattan Bank to support his widowed mother. In 1937, he married Virginia Marie Andersen, his wife of 52 years, who predeceased him on July 19, 1989. Harry served as a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department from 1937 to 1957. After retirement from the fire department, he moved to Poughkeepsie, NY where he worked at DeLaval Separator Company. He was an active member of Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a proud Free and Accepted Mason and a Shriner. In addition to his parents and wife, Harry was preceded in death by his brother, William Joberg. He is survived by two daughters, Randi Petrovits and her husband David of Poughkeepsie, and Linda Knox and her husband William of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Stewart Petrovits and his wife Cynthia, Dana Wiehe and her husband Scott of Poughkeepsie, Linda Sudnik, Martha Stilson and her husband Philip, Sara Roman and her husband Douglas of Greensboro and David Knox and his wife Virginia of Charlotte; and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in Poughkeepsie, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Uniformed Firefighters Association Widow's and Children's Fund 204 East 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010 or the Foundation at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center, 70 Livingston Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
