"One of the greats", Retired Lieutenant Danny Finnigan Engine 50 was laid to rest, with full honors, today, in Washingtonville N.Y.
Danny was President of the FDNY Retired firefighters of the Hudson Valley/Orange County N.Y. and a highly decorated veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps and the FDNY. Dan worked in some of the busiest units in the FDNY during the "War Years" in the South Bronx., ending up as a Lieutenant in the active Engine 50 who is quartered with Ladder19. I worked a long-term covering detail as a Lieutenant in Ladder 19 in the mid 1980's and know both Dan and the company he loved. Truly all who had the honor of knowing Danny Finnigan will miss this great man and exceptional firefighter. R.I.P. Brother. "I know you were in Heaven before the Devil knew you were gone".
