Not sure what happened to it. As of the most recent photos seen B44 is running a 2011 Sierra with the standard set up.
 
I do'nt know if this was ever used on the Fire side....but back around 2012 when the photo first appeared i said "as a BN Rig this would be a bigger clunker than the Ford Excursion's were.... where did this wind up ?
 
I had heard talk of these rigs but never seen a rendering. Last I heard they decided against them but I’m unsure of the reason. With the recording equipment that is incorporated into the battalion vehicles there’s not much room for equipment. When battalions mentor captains or new battalion chiefs it’s a very tight squeeze to carry another person and their gear.
 
Thats why they should give batt. Rigs like the ems paramedics have. With the box on back with all separate compartments

Los Angeles City Fire attempted to do something similar, assigning their BCs rigs with compartmented bodies like that. It did not last long as they found it to be problematic, expensive, and far less useful than they originally expected.

The new standards from NFPA or whoever dictate that PPE needs to be stored separate from passenger compartment unless a rather cost prohibitive filtration system is installed in command and 1st response vehicles hence the reason for capped pickups and Sq51 type vehicles.

I have heard this stated a few times, but I have never seen anything legitimately written on this. I'm not looking to argue your post, I'm wondering if you saw this NFPA standard written or can give the NFPA statute number on this?

So what about all the present Rigs in the FDNY ? how could this be practical ?
 
Could not locate anything in NFPA 1901 that refers to this requirement. Do you have a code reference available?

I understand the clean cab concept. My question was where is this written as an NFPA guideline? I hear a lot of people "quoting" NFPA mandates, but I don't see it written or an NFPA statute on it.
