In my opinion, as long as the fish don't obstruct the Hydrant. Let them stay. It's gold fish, its not like there sharks and are attacking residents.

The pond as it currently is needs the hydrant to be open which both undermines the hydrant and reduces water pressure available.

The hydrant is leaking at a trickle so I doubt it reduces water pressure by any tangible metric. However this does make it almost certain to freeze when the temps drop! Regardless, the fish would be dead long before the temperature gets anywhere close to freezing.

Agreed about the pressure, but the undermining can seriously affect the hydrant given enough time. Erroding around the pipe and allowing rust to form.

I know. People were saying they went out their way to kill the fish. Wasn’t about safety. Another commenter said they hate the FDNY. And the rest of the comments were “hydrant experts”.

Maybe a little bit of overkill, Backhoe to block the street, night time work and Police protection. Glad there are no important projects or crime to take care of 😃
