As of the end of November Chicago fleet Management stated there were 5 2001 Spartan engines, 2 2002 Pierce ladders and zero tower ladders available as spares.

There is a podcast “Chicago’s bravest stories”on YouTube and other platforms. A bunch of guys who either work for Chicago FD currently or a neighboring department. In a few episodes when touch on this topic. Real shit show over there

There is a FB site I follow, Second Battalion CFD, check it out. Status of the CFD fleet, especially OOS apparatus.

Just checked it out, pure insanity in Chicago. What’s funny is I have some good VHS tapes of fires in Chicago in the early 90’s and some of the OOS rigs are in that list. Really, Rigs from the 90’s? That’s crazy
 
When I went to Chicago over the summer, I visited Squad 1. Great guys, but more relevanty they were running in the SCUBA truck.

Hazmat is up for a new rig, along with the SCUBA truck, according to photos I found anyway.
 
The problem with Chicago can be boiled down to one person, Brandon Johnson. An absolute poor excuse of a mayor. He has surrounded himself with characters of similar quality. What you see is what you get with such a defunct administration. Years of robbing Peter to pay Paul and focusing on selfish self interest and cronyism. The citizens of Chicago deserve better as does the rank and file of the CFD. Just ask the city of Houston what happens when you ignore your public services.

Replacement of apparatus should be a contractual obligation. Absolutely no reason to not have reliable apparatus and readily available spares. They thought Mayor Lightfoot was the worst until Johnson said, "Hold my beer"!

217 Million is what the Fleet Request says for everything I listed + some of the additional units that I did not list, however this does seem EXTREMLY low end as it lists the pumpers for 678k. My guess alone for the total on the LOW end is ATLEAST 300 Million, but 4-500 would feel alot closer.

That is not the fleet request, but the department's entire inventory. The request is listed in the next column under cyclical purchase quantity.

Some of this makes no sense. 5 Rescues, 12 rescue squads, 5 snorkels. CFD has no Rescues, the squads. 4 of them, are two piece units with a 55' snorkel. They have no stand alone snorkel. Maybe I am just reading this all wrong.
