Chicago Fire Department has announced the death of FF Michael Altman of Truck 47 from injuries suffered at a 2-11 alarm fire in an apartment building. FF Altman received serious burns when the first floor gave away and he fell into the basement. His grandfather was the Department's Fire Commissioner from 1996-1999. Signal 3-3-5.

I received this email from my friend Jim Regan in Chicago

" It is with profound sadness that we must relate to the group of the LODD of FF Mike Altman of Truck Co. 47 this morning. Mike was severely burned at the 2-11 fire in the 1700 Block of North Shore Ave. yesterday morning. While we were all hopeful that he would recover, his injuries were just too severe.

Mike is a 3rd generation fire fighter with his grand father being a former Chicago FD Commissioner and his father a retired Deputy Chief and Captain of Squad 2.

Mike's wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant.

Please pray for her and all of Mike's family. "
