Communication Failure

EMS dispatch system is down and incidents are in backlog. Units are responding to duplicate jobs.

This is the 2nd time in 2 days after the CAD system has been implemented

It's time to go back to PD having a Communications Unit within each borough, as they did up until 1968 and well how about going back to the 440-1234 as the emergency number. (That many numbers to press may alleviate a lot of b.s. calls.)

No, it wont be ready for a couple of years.

We have freedom of the press now if they would just get the story correct....

I think that someone failed to do their homework. On a computer system to act as dispatch system for any community you need back - up to the back up. No where in the system should one piece of equipment cause the system to fail. Or did someone in City Hall decide to cut corners again?

The answer is back-up to the backup to the backup. At lease three or more different paths for info to travel.
