Duty uniforms

What material is FDNY's duty wear? What company do they use?

They are all cotton now, no more FR stuff.

Any reason's why no more FR stuff? My dept is discussing station wear and some member's brought up FR.

They said FR wasn't needed because of the Bunker Gear.  I guess they figured you are now 100% covered and shouldn't need that extra protection.  Also we don't have any other gear to use, such as cities with brush, USAR and stuff like that. So when ever we are near fire we are in full bunker gear.

Yes Horace Small is the supplier.They are owned by Vanity Fair which also owns Red Kap Industries.It is extremely comfortable but it is not very good appearance wise.

Also, 100% cotton meets the FR requirements and is cheaper. Manufacturers also jack up the price with

the "FR" designation to squeeze more money out of the Depts.
