Engine 39 received the first gasoline propelled and powered pumper in the FDNY, a 1911 Waterous. It didn't work and they went back to steamers, the last one with a motorized tractor delivered in 1917. In 1925 they received a new American LaFrance 700 Gallon Per Minute, then another American LaFrance 1000 GPM in 1927. In 1933, a new Seagrave 1000 GPM pumper. That lasted until 1952, when they got a used 1936 Mack 1000GPM from Engine 225. That lasted until 1958.

Does that fill your gaps?

Wow!  Yes it does.  Thank you for taking the time to research that and passing it on.

I finally made it up to NYC yesterday.
The folks at E39/L16 were great.  They couldnt have been more receptive and helpful.  The timing couldnt have been better.  As we were leaving, l16 got a run and shortly there after the engine went on a run.
Thanks again for all you help.
