Photo was from Broadway and 43rd street.  Looks as if they are turning from W43rd, so I would say good chance it could be Engine 65 back in the day
 
Nice photo! I wander how long it took for companies to turn out in those days..what with getting the horses hooked up and the steam engine fired up....

I wander if it was an EMS run or a class 3 alarm.....?? ;D

I would say EMS at times square station.  Box 769 which is 65's busiest
