I remember watching videos from the 80s and 90s, of E58 and engine companies in the Bronx, on their day to day operations. A lot of the calls that the engines came across was trash fires in the street, where items had been dumped, and then subsequently torched, these would i imagine be classed as workers, but these engines were stretching a hose to apply water numerous times throughout a tour.

Are their still engines out there in NYC that see this kind of hose stretching on a daily basis, to put out the smaller fires?

Certainly not as often  as in the previous years .....the streets are cleaned of rubbish  a lot more frequently now however if a fire is extinguished it is a worker,......but remeber when there were a lot more rubbish Fires there were also a lot more serious building Fires.

Most of the trash fires I see today are put out with a can or small garden type hose off the front
