At the risk of getting involved in a topic I really don't have an opinion about, I'd like to point out what I think is a fault in Bulldog's logic. He says:
Since most taxpayers are paying for a service they never use why should they pay the same as someone who uses the service?
What about the young married couple who have no children? They pay taxes for the public schools, just like everyone else. Using your logic, they should then have to pay tuition when they have kids, and they then grow up and go to public school. I don't think you (or anyone else) would like that. Yeah, I know . . . fire & police service aren't the same as schools, etc., etc . . . but it's the same logic.
