Some of you may be familiar with Father Dan O'Brien, Jesuit priest, who served as chaplain for the Fire Bell Club of New York and the FDNY Honorary Fire Officers Association, who passed away early last week. He (along with many of his family ) were lifelong members of the Valley Stream (Long Island) Volunteer Fire Department. I believe he held some formal position with the FDNY somewhere along the way. He was also a Vietnam era captain in the US Army Corps of Engineers. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, July 11, at the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Roosevelt, Long Island.

A fine gentleman, dedicated priest, and dear friend to many. Rest in Peace, Father Dan.

While I didn't know Father O'Brien personally, I am partial to the Jesuits (compliments of Brooklyn Prep).
I was/am sorry to read of his passing. He seems like a fine person and the world is a little diminished without him in it.
May he Rest in Peace and may his family and friends be comforted.

Among others, Father O'Brien served on the faculty of Xavier High School in Manhattan in St Peters and Jersey City.
