If you look at "Questions and answers about this item" you will see that Steven Scher posted some info about this

badge. Steven has some very good Photo books out on the FDNY. He is also quite knowledgeable about vintage

FDNY badges

Steve's photo book "FIRE" is excellent  & his history on the badge sounds correct....in the late '50s early '60s the Fire Line Badge had been replaced w/a Fire Line Card which was a red cardboard credit card size card....i still have mine in my memorabilia collection.

This is an original front from 1960 when the FDNY switched to the insert type frontpieces.... CPTs had a white front w/a white insert & black numbers for ENG & red numbers for LAD.....LTs had a white front w/the same insert a FF had there was no CPT or LT lettering......after awhile they went back to the straight fronts Officers use today........  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cairns-and-Brothers-ENGINE-60-FDNY-Leather-Fire-Helmet-Front/331365540335?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D472a11de05a643998bdfc3bc5310d937%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D20131017132637%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D331365540335

OLD DOUBLE ACTION PEDESTAL BOX....3387

I had bid on that box and was the high bidder but never met his reserve even with the $4,800 bid I  had put in.
Seemed the others who bid only managed to get it to $3,100 since that's where it ended.
The guy never responded to either of the 2-3 messages I had sent him, never relisted it and his selling history on Ebay looked pretty dormant.
I figured it would run me $1,000 to get it picked up and shipped to me so that's why I  left it at $4,800
I had one exactly like it in 1980 that I paid $750 for at an antique store but sold it a few years later, I know who has it today in fact.
I'm still looking for one of these later this year, right now a couple of other expensive purchases  have me short.
I'd like to know how these wind up on the market at all, I've even seen one in someone's garage in Kansas inthe background of a photo of something else the guy was selling.
I have the top of one made of aluminum, it never had the torch on it.

Mike from the Bronxs book was on eBay recently .The highest bid I could afford was $180.00 and I was out bid. However I did grab First Due ,Fire , and Dennis Smiths Firehouse for under $100. I have also bought about 30 vintage rig slides from early 60s to early 80s with some real sharp rigs decorated for the bicentennial

I have been recently buying slides of some great classic FDNY apparatus on eBay a lot of them from the Bicentennial years when the rigs were done up for the celebration. The slides are marked from the collection of J Calderone and Pete Lund and are very pricey for the busier company's from the period. Chief I picked up a nice one of 108's Seagrave tiller . Still not happy about loosing out on Mikes book that was listed a couple weeks ago . My max bid of $180 didnt win it
