It wouldn’t, it would just take away the discussion of parity within the same department. Separating the departments would eliminate that and keep the EMS pay scale, in my opinion.How would separating all of a sudden fix the pay issue or the people leaving to become a firefighter?
Let's face it, prior to 1996 Health & Hospital Corp. did nothing for their EMS employees. Then 1996 came along and EMS was promised the moon by some Deputy Fire Commissioner whose name I can't recall. It's now 2025 and all remains the same.
