Firehouses - Bronx: E50 L19

50/19 former house, built in the 1880s, is still standing around the corner between Park and 3rd Avenue on 166th Street.
Any chance of a picture of that?
Great photos thanks for sharing capp.

Great photo! At one time about 1970 this house contained Engines 50 and 50-2, Ladder 19, and Division 6. It might look too small to house them all but they were all so busy they were hardly ever around at the same time to be in quarters.

Actually this firehouse was original quarters of Ladder 18 for a few months. L 18 was disbanded, E 50 a combination company took over... and the rest is history...Years later L 18 was re-organized in Manhattan.

I worked in Manhattan's TL-18 as a firefighter and later in Lad. 19 in "Da South Bronx" as a long-term covering Lieutenant in the mid 1980's. Very interesting I never heard that L-18 was in the Bronx before that. At one-time Engine 17 quartered with TL-18 up until it's recent disbandment. E-17 was the "busiest Engine Co. in the World" in the 1950s. I worked in E-17 alot in the 1970s and early 1980's. In those years E-17 was still very busy, and I believe it was in the top 10 in W.R.I.=Work Run Index.
Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
