"Yesterday evening at 5:19pm Our Department was alerted to a report of smoke from the building at 529 Franklin Ave. Upon arrival units were met with extreme heat and heavy smoke conditions throughout the building. Once it was reported that there was no life hazard in the structure a defensive operation was set up using 5 Tower Ladders and 5 Handlines and ultimately a 5th Alarm was transmitted. All Units operated for just under 6 hours total to bring the fire under control. 2 Firefighters were evaluated at the scene for minor injuries.
Thank you to all the Mutual Aid Departments from all over Nassau County & The Dispatchers at Firecom that responded to assist us. All units were under the command of Chief of Department Michael Multari."
