Does anyone have access to or know of FDNY's SOP for the use of air purifying respirators / powered air purifying respirators?
I am tasked with writing a new SOP for this equipment and don't want to reinvent the wheel.  Thanks from "the west side of the Hudson".

Don't know about PAPR but the APR rules are simple.  Each member is assigned one per riding postion and it is kept in a bag on the rig.  Only used when hazmat monitors the air and knows what the risk is and if the APR will protect you from it.

No the Last Chance Filter is something designed for Smoke and to get you out alive when you run out of air.
APR's are for hazmat and you can work with them, not just escape.

Is the apr the same as the last chance filters?

The APR is a CHEM/BIO particulate filter. It does not take the place of an SCBA if there is a gas (CO H2S ETC) that displaces  oxygen you can not use an APR.

The PAPR's are used when an APR would be used for a prolonged period. If we send guys in level A's the guys doing decon in the warm zone will be in PAPR's.
