Welp, looks like Congestion Pricing isn't stopping.

Heres the prices,

  • Cars: $15 during the day/$3.75 at night
  • Motorcycles: $7.50/$1.75
  • Small trucks: $24/$6
  • Large trucks: $36/$9
  • Taxis: $1.25 surcharge per ride
  • For-hire vehicles: $2.50 surcharge per ride
  • Tour buses: $36
  • Charter buses: $24
People coming through the Tunnels get a credit,

  • Cars: $5 credit
  • Motorcycles: $2.50
  • Small trucks: $12
  • Large trucks: $20

Sadly, First Responders and other Goveroment Employees aren't exempt, but the list of Exemptions include, Yellow School Busses owned and operated by the DOE. Commuter Vans lisenced by the TLC. Buses providing scheduled commuter service to the public, including long-distance lines like Megabus and Greyhound and regional lines like the Hampton Jitney. Half of NYC Goveroment Vehicles, dubbed "specialized government vehicles" that are needed to work in the Central Business District. And some drivers who earn less then 50k.

So the first day of congestion pricing I can see a lot of EMS, PD and Firefighters calling out.

MTA pushed the date, it's starting in June
Going to add, the MTA didn't push it because they wanted to. They pushed it because there being sued by so many people who also agree congestion pricing is a bunch of BS.

Not only is this a crime to members working in Manhattan south of 60th, but also members LIVING in Manhattan south of 60th. There's plenty of members including myself born, raised, and still live in lower Manhattan... Seems like politicians and the MTA forgot that real NYers still call this area home. Now it feels like we're basically being trapped. I work in Brooklyn now and plan to work in the outer-boros throughout my career. Still figuring out the details and logistics on how to mitigate the impacts.

Everyday it becomes even clearer that this clown show city administration is completely unqualified ....after years of wanting a mandated provision that a new bldg plan must include a mandated parking provision ( a good thing ) he is now rescinding that & subsequently adding more cars to the very streets they claim would show a reduction in cars with congestion pricing .... what relief will be given to developers that were forced to absorb the previous additional expense to provide off street or underground parking or rooftop parking that will no longer be mandated ?

If anybody thinks this will solve the MTA and the Cities budget problems their mistaken. This is their foot in the door and pricing will be going up every year just like the bridge and tunnel tolls and transit fares and also my cable bill.

This will probably have a big impact on Broadway Shows. I have resigned myself not to enter Manhattan, because of the irresponsible bike riders. I now go to Engeman Theater in Northport for any show I want to see. The commute is about 5 minutes.

The MTA finally decided to give NJ some of the funds from congestion pricing, NJ still ain't happy but they relaxed for now, the MTA is still getting sued though. Congestion Pricing will officially start in 48 days, on June 30th.

27 Days until Congestion Pricing starts, anyone want to take some guesses on how many FF's are going to call out or put in transfer requests on or leading up to the 30th?

Congestion pricing is anticipated to worsen air pollution in Bronx and Staten Island. There are plans to spend $155 million on an asthma center, improved school ventilation, and renovated green space in the South Bronx.

I don’t see anyone tapping out for this……. But transfer requests, might be a few. Most will continue to stay where they are at. Hopefully UFA and UFOA demand a new article in the next contract regarding location differential pay .
