What firehouse is this? Was there an engine 27?

There was an Engine 27 which was located at 173 Franklin Street in lower Manhattan. The company was disbanded in 1975. Here is their old quarters. The firehouse where the picture of John was taken could be Ladder 21/Engine 34 on West 38 St.

This photo was taken from Paul Hashagen‘s book on Rescue 1. Looking at the wall tiles, and the column on the right side of the picture, it certainty could be L21/E34 quarters. Not sure why Engine 27 would have been in there. That’s the best I could do.

Maybe 27 Engine was relocated when Lennon was photographed there?

Most likely was relocated Engine 34.
Engine 27 was disbanded in November of 1975 and this photo is circa 1974:
