LA County has minimum staffing of 2 on squad, 3 on engine, 4 of the truck or quint and the chief rides alone. There were 11 in the station so someone was riding heavy!;)

'... ensure the community can continue to depend on the greatest fire department in the world and that response times are not impacted by this tragedy,''
County Supervisor Janice Hahn said Saturday.

FDNY is going to Respond...? :sneaky:
When fire stations are opened, response times will improve.
When fire stations are closed, "response times are not impacted."
Must be magic.

Were all of the nearby LA City units unavailable? None seen on the video.

Remember, politicians do not have a required minimal standard of truthfulness. I doubt she had her hand on a Bible when that popped out of her mouth.

The nearest LAFD firehouse is 2.2 miles away, its Station 33, the LAFD assignment prob would have included E33, Light Force 33, RA33, RA833. LACoFD E165 would have prob gotten in 2nd or 3rd Due. That depends if the units at 164 we're still operational.

On the videos, E9, E13, E16, E52, E165, L13, L147, and BC13 are visible. E164, L164 and S164 can be seen destroyed.
LA TF21 is also located very close by.

Surprised E33 or LF33 didn't respond. They would have probably beat some of these units in.

The good news is the Firehouse isn't moving very far. Looks like there moving to S13. Response times don't look like they will be affected much.

Sta 52 is just up Santa Fe Ave. The County still owns former Sta 9 and former Vernon Sta 3 is still nearby.

Maybe it is just me but I am really confused. This was a manned, fully operation firehouse with 3-4 units in it and somehow it is a total loss due to fire. How could that possibly be?

I can't believe that they didn't have smoke detectors in the building! I know the article said it was an older building but there is still no excuse for not having smoke detectors in it.
