High value real estate area so where can you put a new firehouse? ???wfd444 said:Midtown ladder companies are very high run; relocate ladder 8 to vicinity of eng 65....that way they can run equally east and west....just my opinion....
The neighborhood lost three engines in the 70's (13, 27, 31) and three in the 40's (20, 29, 30). Maybe it's time to put one back (27)?wfd444 said:Midtown ladder companies are very high run; relocate ladder 8 to vicinity of eng 65....that way they can run equally east and west....just my opinion....
JOR176 said:The reason why so many Engines were disbanded in that time was because before 1957 or 59 there were 4 Engines assigned on the Box in lower man. below 59th St. and that was changed to 3 Engines on the Box, and the Engines were on top of one another in Lower Manhattan during that period. The Ladder 8 thing I would think that if the Dept really looked at that a better move would be to put them in Eng 91 because of the High stats of 26 & 43. Just one persons opinion.

Not a truck company on the job that wants another ladder company to move into their area. Last thing midtown needs is another 100 ft aerial on the streets. Neighborhoods change, and we adjust. Keep ladder 8 right where they are....
