Latest update on NYPD radio encryption

Anyone have a rundown on what NYPD channels are currently encrypted and what the schedule is for the rest of the channels particularly Staten Island ?

I believe ESU is encrypted, not entirely sure though. Though when it comes to Patrol, SI might get encrypted first.

ESU (SOD) Isnt encrypted, I know Citywide 4 is encrypted, 90/94 and a couple of other precincts dont remember off the top of my head.

Do EMS Dispatchers still have access to the frequency or has 1PP completely lost there mind?
Right now, they don't have access to the frequency itself. As noted in the article, that is supposed to change and return to the level of intercommunication that there was previously.

FDNY will be getting encrypted NYPD channels.....Lots of logistics involved reprogramming a several thousand portable and mobile radios.....

Can’t the radios be programmed via WiFi? Many departments with the newest digital APX radios simply make the changes to the fleet map and talk groups on a master computer and then transmit the new upgrades. WiFi transmitters in the apparatus bay then updates any authorized radio that is turned on that is present or when it returns to quarters. Gone are the days of physically have to touch each and every radio via a cable to upgrade.
