Looking back - do you remember

I worked in a Candy store in 1960 after school from 4 till 11. The night edition of the News and the Mirror came out around 9 PM and the store would be crowded from about 8:30 till the papers came in. I got a lot of practice making egg cream sodas, sundaes and packing pints and quarts of hard ice cream.
there was nothing like an egg cream made the right way
Every time I hear egg cream, I think of this:IMG_1293.png

We used to interchange with 169 and the smell of Chocolate filled the air. I never checked it out but I believe their factory was around the corner from their firehouse. They were our busy night interchange company.

at L 38 the old-timers were talking about egg-creams...we hit the road and bought a wooden 12 case seltzer water in those spray top bottles. That worked for a night or so, making egg creams...then like the Three Stooges, you can imagine what else happened...
Economists would characterize that activity as the best and highest use of an asset.
