Yes Ladder 40 was supposed to be permanently a rear mount but from what I was told a certain politician raised a stink and 40 was switched back. That's the only other truck that I know ofI was thinking permanantly, like 151 and 173. Can't forget L-6, although if I recall it was a former captain that requested it ? I know Capt Jonas brought the TDA back cause it was a big mistake especially maneuvering bringing the RM into use. Yes that's true but Ladder 6 switched back in March 1995 but around 2000 / 01 the department was trying to replace as many tillers with rear mounts as they could and these 3 trucks mentioned were the only ones that went throughCan't forget L-6, although if I recall it was a former captain that requested it ? Gotcha. I wasn't sure if they were a test bed so to speak. I was thinking of something that I had heard at the time, but I'm seeing that it probably didn't happen the way I thought. I thought they had swapped all of the 91 tillers to rearmounts but there's more 91s that went into a new tiller then the 3 that were swapped. Yes L40 covers West Harlem but L28 covers Central Harlem which also has tight street.Does L40 have a lot of tight streets they would need a tiller for?

Yes that was me . Thank you for the informationAwhile back someone wanted to know when Chicago got rid of their tillers but I never saw the post. The last 5 were 1976 Seagrave 100' mated to 1976 International cabs as seen in the opening scenes of "Backdraft". T-14 3/86, T-32 11/88, T-41 6/90, T-53 5/87, and T-54 3/89.
